Here are Michael Jackson This Is It reviews and premiere photos and video from the red carpet at the Nokia Theater in Los Angeles on Oct. 27, 2009, and 16 additional premieres worldwide, including London, Beijing and Berlin, marking the start of the limited run and worldwide release of the highly anticipated movie.

The documentary was directed by Kenny Ortega (High School Musical) who was the concert director for what would have been MJ’s This Is It 50-concert residency in O2 Arena in London of which the movie is a chronicle. Here is a round-up of movie reviews:

Differing greatly from the rough, casual mood of many behind-the-scenes pop docs, this one is instead of a piece with Jackson’s body of work: dazzling and strange, blurring the line between fantasy and reality.

As a tragic teaser for the shows that might have been, “This Is It” hurts. If Jackson had been able to perform as he frequently does during these scenes, he would have accomplished the comeback for which he was so hungry.

Michael Jackson DWTS Tribute Video 10-20-09

Here is the Michael Jackson DWTS Tribute video from Oct. 20, 2009. All sixteen of the professional dancers on the ABC TV reality show took part in a special tribute to the King of Pop. See the full video here.

Among the choreographers was Cheryl Burke who had been former House Majority Leader Tom DeLay’s dancing partner in the current series. She told MTV News in an interview of the significance to her personally of Michael Jackson:

“He was a huge influence for me in my dancing career,” she said on the red carpet of last night’s Los Premios MTV awards show. “I think a lot of us professional dancers can say the same. So we’re really excited about it.”

LaToya Jackson introduced the tribute, which featured the dancers performing to signature hits: I Want You Back, Man in the Mirror, and the iconic zombie dance from Thriller.

Here are the Michael Jackson This Is It lyrics and video; the new song from the movie soundtrack debuted at midnight, 12am ET on Oct. 12, 2009. The full song can be heard below.

The uplifting mid-tempo love song has such lyrics as “This is it, here I stand. I’m the light of the world, I feel grand.” features backing vocals from MJ’s brothers, the Jacksons.

This version along with an instrumental (orchestral) version of the song will be included on the movie soundtrack. The movie, of the same title, was directed by Kenny Ortega, concert director for the series of concerts by that title will be released internationally in theaters on October 28, 2009 in a limited two-week run. With previously unseen footage the movie is a chronicle of rehearsals and preparations for what would have been the King of Pop’s This Is It 50-concert series in O2 Arena in London. Michael Jackson This Is It Track-List (Movie Soundtrack)

Here is the Michael Jackson This Is It track-list; the highly anticipated movie soundtrack album, will be released on Oct. 27, 2009. The new song and title track will be unveiled at midnight, 12am ET on Oct. 12, 2009 on the official MichaelJackson.com Web site. The previously unreleased song serves as the album’s lead single and features backing vocals from the late King of Pop’s brothers, The Jacksons.

Additional unreleased material on the album includes Michael Jackson’s spoken word poem, Planet Earth, which appears on Disc 2 along with previously unreleased arrangements of classic songs according to Rolling Stone which goes on to note that two different versions of the new song will be included; one which plays during the ending of the movie and an orchestral version. The album serves as soundtrack to the movie This Is It, which was directed by MJ's concert director and collaborator, Kenny Ortega, set for worldwide release on October 28, 2009 (with advance screenings on Oct. 27) in a two-week run prior to release on DVD. Here is the Michael Jackson This Is It trailer video and photos of the forthcoming documentary which will be released worldwide on October 28, 2009. It premiered during the 2009 MTV VMA Awards. The highly anticipated movie features previously unseen footage of the King of Pop’s rehearsals for his 50-concert O2 Arena residency, entitled This Is It. Documenting the making of the concert it will also feature performances by Michael Jackson.

Concert director Kenny Ortega is also the director of the movie which is scheduled to play in theaters for two weeks, and will then be released to DVD by the end of 2009. Here is the Michael Jackson A Place with No Name lyrics and video. The Michael Jackson new song surfaced via TMZ; its title and lyrics pay tribute to A Horse With No Name, the 1971 international hit single from the band America.

As TMZ.com first reported, the song snippet, which can be heard below in the video in an extended loop, was written with consent and approval of America’s manager, Jim Morey, who was also coincidentally Michael Jackson’s manager in the late 1980s and early 1990s. He is quoted as saying:

“The band was honored that Michael chose to do their song and they hope it becomes available for all Michael’s fans to hear.”
