Ellen DeGeneres said, “You sing with such ease; you’re born to be on stage,” and noted that she showed more personality tonight. Kara DioGuardi said: “You’re so confortable up there. Tonight you loosened up a bit. It shows you’re so comfortable and it’s easy to watch. Simon Cowell said: “You chose a song which just didn’t have what you needed. This is the first time where I think you were beaten by somebody and that was Siobhan [Magnus]. You’ve got to dig deep week after week. You’ve got to kill.”

Ellen DeGeneres said of his performance: “Women’s hearts will start racing, but for people like me — blonds — I thought it was fantastic.” Kara DioGuardi told him that previously he had been trying to be a rock star but “tonight you were a rock star. It’s got blues and soul. That’s what I’ve been missing from you.” She went on to call it his “best performance.” Simon Cowell said to him: “For me, that was like an audition performance. You’re not using this stage, not using the platform.” He went on to tell him, “You’ve got to push yourself. Not just a guy standing in the middle of the stage.”
