The original version with Jay-Z, which appears on his Blueprint 3 album is No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. Here is the Danny Gokey, My Best Days Are Ahead of Me video and lyrics. The new single from the season 8 American Idol finalist has replaced It’s Only as the lead single of his forthcoming debut album which will be released in March 2010. The song, which will be available for digital download on Dec. 22, can be heard in its entirety via the video below. The official music video will be posted as soon as it is available.

USAToday reports that the singer-songwriter’s label RCA Nashville made the decision to change singles, a decision with which he is in agreement. He is quoted as saying:

“I love this song for what it stands for. I don’t live in the past. I live in the ‘now’ … in the future … and in the dreams that I have. I know that my best days really are ahead of me.”

The song was written by Marv Green and Kent Blazy who wrote Reba McEntire’s Consider Me Gone and Garth Brooks’ (Ain’t Goin’ Down) ‘Til the Sun Comes Up, respectively.

The four-time Grammy Award winning country singer-songwriter and season 4 American Idol winner’s album debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200. To date she is the most commercially successful of the Idol alum with 11 No. 1 hit singles, and album sales totaling nearly 10 million. She discussed a range of topics, including her post-Idol success and her vegetarianism and during the interview, the Jimmy Kimmel presented her with a turkey made of avocado.

Here is the Shakira Good Morning America video of her Nov. 19, 2009 performance of Give It Up to Me and the title track of her new album She Wolf (track-list below), which will be released in the U.S. on Nov. 23.

The album has been released in Europe and Latin America and the U.S. version will include six additional tracks, according to MTV, three of these are reworked versions of tracks already on the album, and two are live tracks, with Lil Wayne making a guest appearance on one of these. Here is the John Mayer Today Show video of his Nov. 19. 2009 performance of Who Says and Heartbreak Warfare in support of Battle Studies, his newly released album.

He discussed the album in a recent interview with PopEater.

I had my fun with those songs, so I’m happy to see them go out in the world and be consumed by others. The greatest times I have ever had making a record are driving home from the studio with the rough mix in the car. That’s my time with the record; it’s me getting to know the tunes. The more we rehearse these songs, the more I step into them as the performer, the less I want to hear them. When I get offstage, people go home and I’m still me, so I’ve had my fill of “Wow, look at what I can do” — probably for the rest of my life.
