Brooklyn Decker is on the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit 2010 cover. The issue was formally unveiled on Mon. Feb. 8 on Late Show with David Letterman. She appears in a yellow Delfina bikini and was photographed in the Maldives by celebrated sports photographer Walter Iioos.

She has appeared in the SI Swimsuit Issue three times previously; making her first appearance in 2005. As a model she has appeared in Cosmopolitan, FHM, Glamour and Teen Vogue. She is the wife of tennis star Andy Roddick.

Upon finding out she had won, she Tweeted: “THANK YOU EVERYONE!!! I Wish I could respond to every single one of you but thank you so much for your AMAZINGLY sweet tweets!” She also posted this photo on Twitter.

In an interview with People, she said: “It’s shocking and a dream come true!” She went on to reveal her family’s reaction:

“My mom cried…We’re all on pins and needles before the issue comes out, because the cover is something all the girls want so badly. So it’s nice for my family because they don’t have to stress about it anymore.”

The March issue of Vanity Fair Hollywood 2010 is the 16th annual edition of the magazine feature. It is a photo shoot by legendary photographer Annie Leibovitz and this year’s subjects, up-and-coming actresses: Kristen Stewart (picture above), Carey Mulligan, Abbie Cornish, Mia Wasikowska, Amanda Seyfried, Rebecca Hall, Emma Stone, Evan Rachel Wood and Anna Kendrick. The magazine will be on newsstands on Feb. 9. Details including video are below, after the jump.

First Lady Michelle Obama and her mother, Marian Robinson, grace the cover of Essence Magazine May 2009 cover and are featured in an interview. See the cover, photos and video. The magazine will be on newstands on April 10, 2009.

The joint interview with Michelle Obama and mom Marian Robinson is the first since the latter moved to the White House to take care of the Obamas’ children, Sasha and Malia. The magazine’s editor-in-chief, Angela Burt-Murray, conducted the interview in the White House and, in an interview with Today Show’s Matt Lauer (which you can see below) discusses the experience.

Here are a few article excerpts. Michelle Obama talks about the role of First Lady as she envisions it.

“It’s an honor and a privilege when you walk into the White House-at least I automatically felt a level of obligation. This is a big responsibility, a wonderful platform and I just want to make sure I take every advantage to serve as a role model, to provide good messages, to be a supportive mate to the President and to make sure that my girls are solid.”

“Unlike most women, I have a lot of resources: I have my mother living with me. The White House has a staff of people who are there to make my life easy. I don’t have a full-time job, although I work very hard in the role of First Lady. But I have a lot of resources. So I have been able to achieve the balance because I have the support I need.”

Michelle Obama mother, Marian Robinson reflects on her daughter’s history making role as the nation’s new First Lady.

“Well, to me, it’s overwhelming. I never doubted that she could do this. She is doing it with such grace and dignity. So I am just proud. I just hope she does what she wants to do. [Chuckles] Because the things that she wants to do are very important. They mean a lot to her.”

Life Magazine Martin Luther King Photos: New MLK Assassination Photos (Video)

Life Magazine Martin Luther King photos taken the night of his assassination, April 4, 1968 have been released publicly for the first time. Find out more and see video here.

The 13 photographs were taken by Life magazine photographer Henry Groskinsky. He and reporter Mike Silva were on assignment in Alabama and rushed to Memphis when news reached them that King had been shot.

The photographs had never been published nor seen publicly. They were released on the magazine’s Web site on April 3, 2009, one day ahead of the 41st anniversary of the Martin Luther King, Jr assassination. King had been in Memphis, supporting black sanitation workers who had been on strike. He delivered his famous speech, ‘I’ve Been to the Mountaintop’ the night before his assassination. Had he lived he would have turned 80 this year.

In contrast, the photos in this post are familiar photographs, in the public domain and preserved by the U.S. Library of Congress.

The MLK assassination photos chronicle unfolding events in the aftermath, showing his associates, including Andrew Young and the late Rev. Ralph David Abernathy Sr. together in solemnity in the slain Martin Luther King Jr’s motel room, standing on the balcony where he was killed. There is also a photograph of the inside of King’s suitcase, as he had left it; a can of shaving cream top of clothing and the book he had been reading, Strength to Love. Another photograph, chillingly reveals workers cleaning up the blood.

Groskinsky was interviewed via phone at his home in Boca Raton, Florida and he said that he had he learned about a week ago that the Life Magazine Martin Luther King photos would be published on the magazine’s Web site. The 75-year-old Groskinsky does not own the rights to the photographs.

“It was a very sombre time and I felt like an intruder…I made only two or three snaps. I remember thinking this was a moment in history, that they were making decisions about how to go forward.”

According to The UK Guardian, the photographs were discovered when Life magazine partnered with Getty Images to place archival photographs online. Life.com editor Bill Shapiro is quoted as saying, “When I saw these plates my heart stopped because I knew what we had.”

In the interview, Groskinsky was asked about the MLK assassination photographs and why they were never published.

‘Once they got the famous photo’ of King’s associates pointing in the direction of the assassin, ‘that was it,’ Groskinsky said, referring to the widely circulated Associated Press photo.

He and Silva talked on the phone two days ago, trying to piece together the events of that tragic day.

“Neither one of us could remember anything after we left the room, where we stayed, what we did,” Groskinsky said.

The next day, they went back to the magazine’s New York offices.

“I turned in my film and went on to the next assignment,” Groskinsky said. “It was very disappointing they didn’t publish them, but in those days, we had no say.”

First Lady Michelle Obama graces the cover of New York Magazine March 23, 2009 issue. See the cover, recent photos and video here. Several essays in the issue explore the new First Lady as a icon and reflect upon her influence upon politics and pop culture as the first African-American First Lady.

All of the essays are online, and are written by several prominent writers, each taking an in-depth look at the history that is unfolding before us. Michelle Obama Comic Book

A First Lady Michelle Obama comic book will be released by Bluewater Productions, as part of the Female Force Comics series. See the cover and video here.

President Barack Obama was famously featured in Spider-Man comic book, issue (See: Barack Obama Spider-Man Comic). Now it is the First Lady’s turn.

The comic book will be a biography of Michelle Obama, revealing her life story from childhood on the South Side of Chicago to the nation’s first African-American First Lady. She appears on the cover in her signature look, bearing arms in a sleeveless black dress. The cover artist is Vinnie Tartamella. The Washington, DC based Bluewater Productions will release the 22-page Michelle Obama comic book on April 25, 2009 with a $3.99 cover price. While the company has had sellouts with previous comic books in the series which include Alaska Governor Sarah Palin and Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, according to the Chicago Tribune, the demand for the not-yet-published comic book has been so intensive that distributors have temporarily stopped taking orders while Bluewater Productions catches up with it.

“I feel like the guy who invented the Furby,” Bluewater President Darren Davis said. “The reaction has been insane.”

First Lady Michelle Obama shares the cover of O Magazine April 2009 with Oprah Winfrey herself. See the cover, recent photos and video here. The First Lady is also featured in an interview in the magazine.

This is the first time Oprah Winfrey has shared her magazine cover in its nine year history. Given her longtime support of President Barack Obama duriing his candidacy, when her endorsement brought her some criticism, it is not a surprise that the new First Lady would be the first person to go where no human, other than Oprah, had gone before. Oprah Winfrey conducted the interview with the First Lady, which covers a range of topics on the Obamas new life in the White House.

The First Lady shared what the family’s first weekend in the White House was like.

Well, we still had family here, so it was almost like a wedding. A huge, very complicated wedding. The last visitors didn’t leave until Sunday. And then the first Monday was kind of weird. You know: Now we live here, and Barack is getting up and going to work, and it’s just us. This is our home now. [...]

And it’s a beautiful home. When you go out and come back, especially at night, with all the white lights on—it’s just beautiful. We feel privileged, and we feel a responsibility to make it feel like the people’s house. We have the good fortune of being able to sleep here, but this house belongs to America.
