Here is the Sound of Music Train Station Video which has gone viral. Witness 200 dancers take over Antwerp Station in Belgium, (Centraal station in Antwerpen) dancing to the famous Do Re Mi song from the Sound of Music musical and movie variously known as Maria’s Dance and Maria’s Song. The video has been around since late March 2009 and grows increasingly popular.

It follows in the tradition of flash mob events. and is reminiscent of the now famous T-Mobile ‘Dance’ Ad Liverpool Street Station Video.Like other such events it is a promotion, in this case for a TV program, VTM ‘In Search of Maria’ according to reports in RLT Boulevard) and De Standard but nonetheless it is sheer joy to watch and hear.

ACDC Dance Crew featuring Jabbawockeez and Chris Brown, and M&M Cru featuring LL Cool J performed at the 10th annual Teen Choice Awards 2008 which took place at the Gibson Amphitheater on August 3, 2008 in Los Angeles, California and were broadcast on Monday, August 4, 2008 on Fox.

ACDC Dance Crew led by Jon M Chu and Adam Sevani , Step Up 2: The Streets and M&M Cru led by Miley Cyrus and Mandy Jiroux have been engaged in an epic dance battle on YouTube, dubbed the “biggest online dance battle in YouTube history.”

Hollywood Dance Legend Cyd Charisse (1922-2008) – Video Tribute

Legendary actress, dancer and star of numerous musicals from Hollywood’s Golden Era, Cyd Charisse has died.

Cyd Charisse, who brought sizzle and sophistication to dance in such classic movie musicals as “Singin’ in the Rain” and “Silk Stockings,” died today. She was 86.

Charisse died at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles after suffering an apparent heart attack Monday, publicist Gene Schwam said.

Charisse captured moviegoers’ attention in a quick succession of films, starting with “Singin’ in the Rain” in 1952 in which she partnered with dancer and actor Gene Kelly in a steamy ballet.

She was strong, lithe and “drop-dead gorgeous to look at,” dance/film historian and author Larry Billman said of Charisse in her breakthrough performance. She partnered with Kelly again in “Brigadoon” in 1954 and “It’s Always Fair Weather” the following year.

“After years when Hollywood’s leading dancers were cute and fluffy, Cyd took dance to a more sensual realm in the 1950s,” Billman said in a September 2007 interview with The Times.

Charisse also danced with Fred Astaire, the premier dancer of his age, in major production numbers in the ’50s. In “The Band Wagon” (1953), they danced to the music of “Dancing in the Dark” on a set that looked like New York City’s Central Park. Four years later, Charisse and Astaire were partners again in “Silk Stockings.” Astaire said that Charisse was “beautiful dynamite” on screen. Charisse’s other starmaker roles of the 1950s included “Deep in My Heart” (1954), in which she danced a sexy duet with James Mitchell.

Unlike many top female dancers in the era of movie musicals, Charisse was trained as a ballerina in the Russian tradition.

While she occasionally performed solo, “she was at her best when she was partnered,” Billman said. “She had technique, ability, and she didn’t do anything to take away from her partner.”

Her glamorous looks fit well with an emerging trend. “In the ’50s, Hollywood was all about sex,” Billman said. While actresses Marilyn Monroe and Sophia Loren dominated their field, “Cyd ruled dance,” Billman said. “She personified dancing sophistication.”

Earlier in her movie career, Charisse’s dark hair and eyes led to some unlikely roles as “ethnic-exotic” characters in B movies such as “Fiesta” (1947), where she played the Latina fiancee of actor Ricardo Montalban.

Video: Miley Cyrus M&M Cru ACDC Dance Battle Continues

The YouTube dance battle between Miley Cyrus and Mandy Jiroux’s M&M Cru and ACDC (Jon M Chu and Adam Sevani , Step Up 2: The Streets) has quite literally reached epic proportions with the release, on June 10, 2008 of the M&M Crue response.

Miley Cyrus has enlisted her musically-inclined celeb pals for her latest YouTube video featuring her dance posse, the M&M Cru, and her BFF Mandy Jiroux. The video is the latest response to the ACDC dance crew’s April 10 call for the “biggest online dance battle in YouTube history.” The ACDC group is led by Step Up 2 director Jon Chu and star Adam Sevani.

The video’s celeb cameos include You Don’t Mess with The Zohan’s Emmanuelle Chriqui, former NSYNC member Joey Fatone, illusionist David Blaine and Ryan Seacrest.

Cyrus and Jiroux kick off the video with a ride in a helicopter emblazoned with the M&M Cru logo. The 100-member crew then takes over L.A. hotspot Boulevard3, where they perform a series of street dance routines. Cyrus also shows off her impressive cheerleading skills with an aerial twist about 14 feet in the air.

“The next morning she sent me a message showing me a picture of her knees because she had bruises from learning the breaking routine we did,” says choreographer Teresa Espinosa. “There were bruises all up and down her leg … [but] she was so excited. She was killing it!”

With some of the best moves seen so far as well as appearances by comedian Chris Kattan, Ryan Seacrest and boy bander Joey Fatone (seen here dancing with even bigger stars), it’s evidence that Miley and Mandy’s M&M Cru definitely brought the heat, as instructed by the Adam/Chu Dance Crew (ACDC).

But did they best the team that managed to put Diana Ross, Lindsay Lohan and Chris Brown in the same video? Some people say they got schooled the last time, have they redeemed themselves? A full, ahem, step-by-step breakdown of the key moments in the battle is after the jump, You decide.

The real verdict, however, may have to wait until the in-person face-off promised at the end of this latest installment finally goes down, most likely on YouTube.
