Here are Berlin U2 Jay-Z video, photos, set-list, reviews at the Brandenburg Gate on Nov. 5, 2009 in a performance of Sunday Bloody Sunday with a cover of Bob Marley’s Get Up Stand Up. See also Jay-Z’s performance of Empire State of Mind at the MTV Europe Music Awards.

Both the concert and the awards ceremony took place in the German city in commemoration of the 20th anniversary of the fall of the Berlin Wall. Jay-Z took home an MTV EMA Award for Best Live Act and U2 won the Best Live Act Award. The performance at the gate took place ahead of the EMAs and saw Bono introducing Jay-Z on stage as “The Mayor of New York City.” Full set-list for the concert as follows:

Here are U2 Rose Bowl set-list, reviews, concert video and photos from Sun. Oct. 25, 2009 in Pasadena, CA, broadcast on YouTube in a live web-cast and seen worldwide. The stadium concert which drew an audience of more than 96,000 is part of the U2 360 world tour in support of the legendary Irish rock band’s twelfth studio album, ‘No Line on the Horizon,’ with Black Eyed Peas as the supporting act.

The concert, brilliantly photographed, lasted for more than two hours, revealing the dramatic 360 degree stage which gives this world tour its name. It was designed by the band’s longtime concert director Willie Williams in collaboration with architect Mark Fisher. In addition to the Black Eyed Peas, the tour has and will include a variety of supporting acts, including Muse, Glasvegas, Kaiser Chiefs, Elbow, and Snow Patrol. The critically acclaimed U2 360 tour continues through 2010 with band members Bono, The Edge, Adam Clayton, and Larry Mullen Jr.

New U2 2010 tour dates for North America have been announced by Live Nation via Twitter.

Here is the Anoop Desai North Carolina State Fair video of his Oct. 22, 2009 concert performance, in Raleigh, featuring a cover of Jordin Sparks’ Battlefield, along with Give In To Her Love, a new song the American Idol season 8 finalist co-wrote with David Mikush.

The sixth place Idol finalist is a native of Chapel Hill, NC, and is about to move to Los Angeles to pursue his music career. He was recently interviewed by The Herald-Sun in advance of the concert, which featured collaborations from some of his friends, including the aforementioned singer/songwriter David Mikush.

“This concert is almost like a farewell to the Triangle,” he said. “It’s fun for me. I sort of need this for a final hurrah and for my friends.”

Here are Robbie Williams BBC Electric Proms 2009 video, photos, and set-list, and review of his Oct. 20 performance which kicked off the annual concert series. Performing live at the Camden Roundhouse in London, the concert was broadcast across 250 cinema screens the UK and twenty-three countries in Europe.

According to The Telegraph, (in an article referenced below) this has set a Guinness World Record for the most simultaneous screenings of a live concert. For the singer-songwriter Robbie Williams who rose to fame initially with pop band Take That it was his first full concert in three years, it was a critically acclaimed performance in stark contrast to his recent and much discussed X Factor appearance in which he was visibly nervous.

His forthcoming eighth studio album, Reality Killed the Video Star will be released on November 9, 2009 in the UK. It is his first album since the world multi-platinum selling 2006 album Rudebox. He performed both old and new songs, including Millennium, Come Undone and Angels, as well as a cover of Trevor Horn’s Video Killed The Radio Star to which the title of his new album references. As NME reports he paid tribute to his Take That band members, introducing ‘No Regrets’ as “a song about the band I used to be in.”

“I’ve got a new best mate and his name’s Gary Barlow,” he said. He also changed the final lyric of the song to “I guess the love we have is officially alive”, as opposed to “dead”.

Oct. 8 ‘Born to Run” The five-concert series will conclude with a replaying of ‘Born in the U.S.A.,’ on Friday, Oct. 9.

The concert kicked off with a new song, Wrecking Ball, with Bruce Springsteen announcing, “Bring on your wrecking ball.” It tributes the final days of the stadium which is set for demolition. Some of the lyrics of the rousing, crowd-pleasing song: “I was raised out of steel here in the swamps of Jersey, some misty years ago….My home is here in the Meadowlands/Where mosquitoes grow big as airplanes/Here where the blood is spilled and the arena is filled/And Giants play the game.”

Here are the Barbra Streisand Village Vanguard set-list, review, videos and photos of the entertainment legend’s live performance September 26, 2009 at the New York City jazz landmark. The historic concert, in support of her new studio album, Love Is The Answer, marked her first appearance at the club since 1961.

The concert was attended by 100 people, man of which were fans who won tickets via a lottery, in addition to public figures who are friends of Streisand including Bill Clinton, along with Hillary Clinton and daughter Chelsea, Donna Karan and Nicole Kidman.

The new album, Love Is the Answer, is the 63rd album from Streisand, the best selling music artist in history, according to the R.I.A.A. Her career transverses several disciplines including film, music and theater and she has received awards in all of them, Academy Awards, Grammy Awards, a special Tony Award. She is additionally a 2008 Kennedy Center Honoree.

Scott Simon of NPR Weekend Edition interviewed the owner of the legendary jazz club, Lorraine Gordon, who reminisced about how Barbra Streisand’s first appearance at the club came about, noting she had first approached her husband, the late Max Gordon, founder and owner of the club.

“She wanted to sing down here, and Miles Davis was playing at the time,” Gordon says. “And Max asked Miles, as the story goes, if he’d accompany her. And Miles, in his inimitable fashion, says, ‘I don’t play for no girls.’ And he didn’t.”
