4. DMDM hydantoin and imidazolidinyl urea
5. Synthetic Colors and Pigments
6. Parabens (methyl, butyl, ethyl, propyl)
7. FEG (polyethylene glycol)
8. Phthalates 9xenoestrogens)
9. Propylene glycol and butylene glycol
10. Sodium lauryl sulfate and sodium laureth sulfate
11. Sunscreen chemicals like avobensone, benzphenone and PABA
12. Triclosan

Unfortunately, these ingredients are widely used in cosmetics.

Susan Jeske knows from personal experience, not only as a beauty pageant queen, crowned Ms. America in 1997 (the year of the pageant’s debut), but as someone who had a successful career in the cosmetics industry. Five years ago, she began to experience serious skin problems, and a doctor told her, “What you are using on your skin contains synthetic and toxic chemicals and is making you sick. This serious issue has an outspoken and tireless advocate in Susan Jeske, awarded the Lifetime Presidential Award from former U.S. President George W. Bush for a lifetime of commitment to charity and volunteerism, recognizing her 20 years of taking the empowerment and philanthropic mission of pageants in all of the 50 states and worldwide to 26 countries, as the concept of “beauty pageant” continues to be reinvented for a new century.

Beyonce L’Oreal Ad Campaign Photo ELLE Magazine September 2008

Here is a new Beyoncé L’Oreal promotion; an ad campaign photo for L’Oreal Féria which will appear in the ELLE Magazine September 2008 issue. Beyoncé Knowles signed a five-year $4.7 million endorsement deal with L’Oreal in 2004.

The ad has generated much controversy due to the apparent lightening of Beyonce’s skin tone and hair color. The company denies the alterations, as the New York Post reports and, as discussed in this video report.

It’s hard to believe, but two years in a row, Miss USA has fallen during the evening gown competition at the Miss Universe pageant. This time it was Miss USA Crystle Stewart of Texas, who was in the Top 10 at the Miss Universe 2008 pageant, held in Nha Trang, Vietnam. Crystle Stewart looking elegant, suddenly tripped on the train of her gown and fell but recovered quickly and gracefully. Last year, in Mexico, at the Miss Universe 2007 pageant Miss USA Rachel Smith fell and finished fifth.

Miss Venezuela, Dayana Mendoza, was crowned Miss Universe 2008.

Crystle Stewart, professional model, entrepreneur and motivational speaker was interviewed prior to the pageant and expressed her support of Barack Obama’s candidacy and remarked upon the significance of Vietnam as the Miss Universe pageant setting.

“I like Barack Obama — just his poise and the way he motivates people — and that’s something that draws me,” said the Texan beauty, who works as a motivational speaker and is writing a book called “Waiting to Win.”

Asked if she would vote for Obama, she said: “That’s a secret, but yes!”

“John McCain is an American hero,” she said of the Republican Party hopeful, a senator from Arizona and former naval pilot who spent five-and-a-half years as a prisoner of war in Vietnam.

“I’m actually kind of torn because I think he’s a great person, he’s older and he might be a little bit wiser,” she told AFP on the eve of the Miss Universe contest, to be broadcast Sunday evening US time.

“But Obama’s on the higher end of the list,” she added.

Stewart said she was proud to represent the United States in an event held in Vietnam, once America’s battlefield enemy, because the show could act as a bridge between the countries and help post-war reconciliation.

“That was 30 years ago, and we had a terrible conflict, but now we’re working together, and I think this will show everyone that USA and Vietnam can be very friendly and cordial to each other,” she said.

Actress Megan Fox was named the world’s sexiest woman on Wednesday by an annual online poll, while the world’s most Googled woman, Britney Spears, barely scraped in at No. 100 after a shocker of a year.

Fox, 21, who starred in last year’s hit movie “Transformers,” grabbed the title from actress Jessica Alba, 26, topping online men’s magazine FHM Online’s (www.FHMonline.com) reader poll of the 100 Sexiest Women in the World for 2008.

Alba dropped to No. 3, coming behind American actress and former model Jessica Biel but ahead of Canadian actress Elisha Cuthbert who was ranked fourth after appearing in horror movie “Captivity” last year. U.S actress and singer Scarlett Johansson, 23, rounded out the top five.

“Megan Fox is the deserving winner of this year’s FHM title. She’s young, she’s hot, she’s a rising star and her sex appeal has definitely transformed this year’s list. She’s got a great future ahead of her,” said FHM Online U.S. Editor JR Futrell.

Miss USA Crystle Stewart Begins Her Publicity Blitz (Video)

Newly crowned Miss USA, Crystle Stewart, entrepreneur, motivational speaker, and professional model is already revealing her determination to use her newfound fame to make a difference in people’s lives.

“I just want to instill character and determination in young women,” the tall, 26-year-old motivational speaker from Texas told TODAY’s Matt Lauer and Meredith Vieira Monday on Rockefeller Plaza.

Stewart ought to relax a little. She’s already got the job, and she did it by avoiding the on- and off-stage missteps of some of her predecessors.

Wearing the tiara she won on Friday night when she took the title at the end of a two-hour live broadcast from Las Vegas on NBC, Stewart was all smiles as she talked about her hopes for the coming year. A graduate of the University of Houston with a degree in consumer science and merchandising, she runs her own business, “Inside/Out,” which helps young women build confidence and self-esteem.

So, when Lauer asked her if she can counter some of the negative female role models in Hollywood, Stewart answered without hesitation.

“One of my goals is to be a positive role model,” she said. “I think we need that more today, and that’s my goal, to be a great Miss USA.” (Source.)

“I want to talk to people about how to set a goal and achieve it,” Stewart, who edged out first runner-up Leah Laviano of Mississippi and Tiffany Andrade of New Jersey, was quoted by The Associated Press as saying after the show, “Because I just achieved my goal.”

Stewart, who completed her degree in Consumer Science and Merchandising at the University of Houston, founded and runs her business “Inside/Out” which aids young women in building self-esteem and volunteers with many organizations in the community.
A “gifted teacher and motivator,” as she described herself, Stewart also won the Swimsuit Award at the 2008 Miss Texas USA Pageant. She is now set to represent the country in the Miss Universe contest to be held in Vietnam later this year.

Talking about her future aspirations, the model revealed she is eager to travel all around the world and spread her message of self-improvement to young women, noting that she is a very good public speaker.
