Here’s the full video of HHS Secretary Tom Price’s interview with Chuck Todd on NBC News ‘Meet the Press.’ He discussed the progress being made on the GOP Obamacare replacement plan — the American Health Care Act — and responded to criticism it has received, particularly from conservatives in Congress. Health and Human Services Secretary Dr. Tom Price, an orthopedic surgeon as well as a former Congressman, discussed the American Health Care Act and said, “We strongly support the plan, which is this bill.”

He also responded to the criticism from conservatives in Congress, notably Senator Rand Paul who has called it “Obamacare Lite.”

He denied the characterization and said, “This is a little puzzling because independents and conservatives for decades have said, ‘Shouldn’t we equalize the tax treatment of the purchase of health coverage for folks who get it through their employer and folks who aren’t able to get it through their employer?'”

Elaborating, he went on to say, “That’s exactly what the tax credits do. We don’t dictate to people what they ought to buy or what they must buy.”

Earlier in the week, Secretary Price made an appearance during White House Press Secretary Sean Spicer’s daily press briefing and answered reporters’ questions on the new plan.

President Trump has Tweeted about the progress being made.

The interview was broadcast originally on Tuesday March 7, 2017.
