President-Elect Donald Trump Responds to Meryl Streep’s Golden Globes Speech

President-Elect Donald Trump responded to Meryl Streep’s 2017 Golden Globe Award acceptance speech via Twitter. The actress in accepting the Cecil B. Demille Award, denounced him for allegedly mocking a disabled reporter. You can see the Tweets as well as the full video of her speech and more details on the controversy below.




Meryl Streep did not name the President-Elect but said during her acceptance speech that she saw a “performance” last year that “stunned” her. Elaborating, she said, “There was nothing good about it, but it did its job. It kind of broke my heart when I saw it, and I still can’t get it out my head because it wasn’t in a movie, it was in real life. That instinct to humiliate when it’s modeled by someone in a public platform, it filters down into everyone’s life because it gives permission for others to do the same.”

Watch full video below of the politically charged speech below in which Streep also claimed that the room was filled with society’s most “vilified” segments; Hollywood, foreign, and the press and that Hollywood itself is “crawling with outsiders and foreigners,” and that “if you kick them all out, you’ll have nothing to watch but football and mixed martial arts, which are not the arts.”
