President Obama Pardons the National Thanksgiving Turkey

The ceremony, officially known as the “National Thanksgiving Turkey Presentation” begins at 2:45 p.m. ET at the White House Rose Garden. Use the World Clock to find the equivalent in time zone on Wednesday, November 25 or Thursday, November 26, accordingly.

Both birds this year — Honest and Abe — are the Nicholas White breed and are from ‘Aviagen, a West Virginia company, Aviagen and were raised in Modesto, California at Foster Farms. and also serves as chairman of the National Turkey Federation.

Every year, it is the chairman of the National Turkey Federation who raises tthe national Thanksgiving turkey. This year’s chairman is Jihad Douglas who is also is president of Aviagen.

One turkey will take part in the ceremony but both of them will be spared from the Thanksgiving dinner table to live out their lives at Morven Park in Leesburg, Virginia.
