Here is the Kanye West Lost in the World video featuring Bon Iver. The official music video had its premiere in support of the song from the multi-Grammy Award winning hip-hop icon’s fifth studio album “My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy” which was released in late 2010. The track samples Bon Iver’s song ‘Woods’ and the vocals of its founder and frontman Justin Vernon. (Bon Iver achieved a recent rise in notoriety after an appearance on Saturday Night Live.) The video was directed by filmmaker Ruth Hogben and according to AceShowBiz,

“The clip is described as a piece that “breaks the mould of popular rap aesthetics while still celebrating the extraordinary talent that has made West a modern icon.”

Here’s MTV’s analysis of the visually stunning video.

Simply calling the new visuals from Kanye a “music video” might be a disservice, though, so let’s say that ‘Ye teamed up with fashion filmmaker Ruth Hogben to create a new mini movie. The black-and-white clip opens with a warning that “strobe effects are used in this video” — West clearly learned a lesson from the backlash that accompanied his “All of the Lights” video — before “Lost” flashes across the screen in a few different languages and, finally, the song’s title is announced.
