Here is the Ryan Reynolds Today Show video from Tues. Feb. 7, 2012. The interview with NBC’s Matt Lauer was in support of the forthcoming movie, Safe House in which he costars with Denzel Washington. It will be released in theaters on February 10, 2012.

Safe House is an action thriller directed by Daniel Espinosa and shot on location in Cape Town, South Africa. Reynolds portrays a CIA case worker in South Africa who must contend with the rogue agent whom Oscar winning actor Denzel Washington portrays.
He said of the movie, “It’s intense. I never like it when I see movies I’m in but now I know where it came from “on the edge of your seat.” It was unbelievable.”
Asked what it was like to act opposite the intensity of Denzel Washington he said, “It gives you sunburn. It’s like being in acting school. It’s incredible to work with somebody like that. He’s a legend, one of the best living, working actors we have today. just to be around it is a learning experience. I loved working with him.”
He went on to discuss how he had accidentally given Washington a black eye while filming a scene in which he was driving the car the two were in: “Somehow Denzel’s head came in contact with mine. I looked back and there he was with a golf ball-sized egg on his face.” As to how Washington reacted, he said, “I thought he was going to turn me into a liquid. Should I pack my bags?” He added, “He took it all right. He gave me a look like, you can’t believe you just gave Denzel Washington a black eye. That was about the look I had.”
