Here is the Justin Timberlake Today Show video from Thurs. Oct. 27, 2011. The live interview with NBC’s Matt Lauer was in support of the forthcoming science fiction thriller, In Time, in which the Grammy winning music artist and actor has a starring role.

Article continues below.

The highly anticipated movie, written and directed by Andrew Niccol, also co-stars Amanda Seyfried, Cillian Murphy, Olivia Wilde, Matt Bomer, and Alex Pettyfer and will be released on Fri. Oct. 28, 2011.

Matt Lauer began the interview by commending Justin Timberlake for the acting roles he has taken on in Hollywood and asked what drives him to succeed in music, film and television. Timberlake said that he looked towards Frank Sinatra and Gene Kelly for inspiration, saying, “I always admired that they could tell a joke and sing a song and make you laugh. I always aspired to do it all.”

In a follow-up question, Lauer noting that he had a laser-like focus such as that which he brought to his golf game, and asked what was in his personality that didn’t allow him to settle. He said, “I think we’re all perfectionists in a way, but you grow up young in the business and you get to try a lot of things and you’re naturally interested in things. We were taught to be triple threats in the way you said.”

JT said of the movie, In time, “I read the script for two or three days straight. I found myself asking so many personal questions. He has a knack for this type of hypothesis that makes you look in the mirror and ask a lot of questions. It seemed like a thrill ride as well.”

Concluding the interview, Lauer played “Justin Timberlake Trivial Pursuit,” with questions from the music artist and actor’s career highlights, who then turned the tables with with a series of questions for Lauer.

JT also made mention of the marine, Corporal Kelsey De Santis, whom he will take to the Marine Corps Ball on November 12, saying, “I was made aware that she is an MMA expert; I’m very glad I accepted her offer.”
