In the interview, Demi Lovato discussed how she was able to overcome the unfolding events of the past several months of her life which included a much publicized break-up as well as x stint in rehab, where she sought treatment for bipolar disorder cutting and and eating disorder.
Regarding the latter she said she was diagnosed with anorexia binge-purge type and that it dated back to age 12 and being bullied. “I came on the show and talked about bullying before but I wanted so badly to say how it had affected me, but I couldn’t say how it had affected me because I wasn’t through the issues it caused. Years of abuse in school…so many things were said to me that just haunted me every day and I went from having all of these friends to not. That’s the effects that bullying can have on you. That’s why I’m so adamant and so outspoken, about why it’s so important to get the awareness out that of these issues that teen bullying can cause…That’s why I struggled with cutting, with anorexia and basically bulemia.”
She performed her single Skyscraper from the album while on the program. Watch the full video below of her appearance (which was broadcast on Sept. 19, 2011 in some regions).
