Watch President Barack Obama’s fuel efficiency standards speech video on Tues. Aug. 9, 2011. In the address at Interstate Moving Services in Springfield, Virginia, he will discuss new fuel economy standards for heavy duty commercial vehicles. The speech time is 11:05 a.m. ET. UPDATE: Today’s visit and speech were canceled. Instead, the President traveled to Dover Air Force Base in Delaware and took part in a private ceremony honoring the 30 U.S. troops, including 22 Navy SEALs, who were killed in a helicopter crash in Afghanistan.

According to the White House press statement, the President will announce the “first of their kind fuel efficiency standards for work trucks, buses, and other heavy duty vehicles. The new standards will provide American businesses, who operate and own these commercial vehicles, tens of billions of dollars in fuel savings, and will dramatically reduce oil consumption and cut pollution.”
