Daniel Racliffe said the alcohol addiction began at age 18, during the shooting of Harry Potter and The Half-Blood Prince, and that since August 2010 he has been sober.
“I became so reliant on [alcohol] to enjoy stuff,” he said. “There were a few years there when I was just so enamored with the idea of living some sort of famous person’s lifestyle that really isn’t suited to me.”

Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2 will open in theaters on July 15, 2011, with Daniel Radcliffe once again reprising his role alongside costars Emma Watson, Rupert Grint, Ralph Fiennes, Alan Rickman and Helena Bonham Carter.
