Here is the President Barack Obama speech video from the Tucson, Arizona memorial service on Weds. Jan. 12, 2011. Watch the President address the audience live at the Univ. of Arizona at the service entitled “Together We Thrive: Tucson and America”, honoring the shooting victims in the aftermath of the shooting on Saturday, January 8, 2011 at a “Congress on Your Corner” event at Safeway supermarket. Rep. Gabrielle Giffords was critically injured and among the 20 who were shot, six of whom died, including federal Judge John Roll and 9-year-old Christina-Taylor Green.

The President and First Lady Michelle Obama are among numerous public officials attending the ceremony which will take place at McKale Center on the University of Arizona campus. Other attendees include Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano, Attorney General Eric Holder, House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi, Arizona Gov. Jan Brewer, Arizona Senators John McCain and Jon Kyl. McCain and others.

The event will include a Native American blessing, a moment of silence, a poetry reading and the presentation of a chain featuring messages from members of the public that will be collected at the UA Mall on Wednesday afternoon to write messages on the chain that will be presented later that night.

Doors will open at 4 p.m. Attendees are encouraged to arrive early, as a capacity crowd is expected, and there will be increased security as part of the President’s visit.
