According to the White House release, President Obama’s speech at the National Urban League 100th Anniversary Convention at the Washington Convention Center will focus on the administration’s Race to the Top program and other initiatives designed to help students prepare for college. He will also talk about reforms undertaken in the past year and a half by states, school districts, schools systems and teachers unions, including the improvement of teacher effectiveness and bringing about a turnaround with low-performing schools.
