Here is the Alvin Greene speech video from Sun. July 18, 2010. The campaign debut address by the South Carolina Democratic candidate for U.S. Senate before the NAACP in his hometown of Manning marked his first public campaign appearance since his surprise victory over Vic Rawls in the SC Democratic Primary in June.

The speech before the monthly meeting of the local branch of the NAACP took place at Manning Junior High School gymnasium. Alvin Greene is an unemployed veteran whose surprising victory in the primary and aftermath continue to draw national press attention. According to the Charlotte Observer, 15 video camera were present for his seven-minute speech which focused on jobs and the economy.
He said of his opponent, the incumbent Republican Senator Jim DeMint, “South Carolina and America cannot afford six more years of my opponent. We cannot let my opponent keep this country hostage.”
