Randy Jackson said: I like the guitar. You’re in the zone. I’m loving every performance. It wasn’t as exciting but it’s good to pull it back and show your sensitive side.” Ellen DeGeneres said: “That was beautiful. I loved it. Beautiful”
Kara DioGuardi said: “I hate to admit that I had never heard that song; you did and incredible job, you really did. You got to the true emotion of the song; it was tasteful and lovely.
Simon Cowell said: “Michael, this is probably the first time since you’ve entered the live shows when I can actually take you seriously as an artist because even though [the song] is a little bit gloomy…what you’ve demonstrated is the difference between being different and having a moment and being a silly little karaoke singer. I actually believed that performance.”
Usher also praised the singer, saying, “You did it. You connected it. You did it, man.”
