The President picked Strongsville to deliver the address to highlight the story of Natoma Canfield of Medina, Ohio. The self-employed cleaning woman is a cancer survivor who wrote to him, telling him she dropped her Anthem Blue Cross Blue Shield insurance when it no longer was affordable. He then read the letter during a meeting with health insurance executives. The Dec. 29, 2009 letter reads in part:
“Incredibly, I have been notified that my premium for the next year, 2010, has been increased over 40 percent, to $8,496.24. This is the same insurance company I’ve been with for 11 cancer-free years. I need your health reform bill to help me. I simply can no longer afford to pay for my health-care costs.
“Thanks to this incredible premium increase demanded by my insurance company, January will be my last month of insurance. I live in the house my mother and father built in 1958, and I am so afraid of the possibility I might lose this family heirloom as a result of being forced to drop my health-care insurance.”

Obama Ohio Speech Video 3-15-10 Health Care Reform Address in Strongsville
In his speech, President Obama outlined that this woman, Natoma Canfield had spent $6000 for monthly premiums and $4000 in out of pocket expenses for healthcare that didn’t exceed her increasing deductible. Somehow, President Obama seems to manage to say that the insurance company charged this woman for a total of $10,000 dollars in payments. That $4000 didn’t end up in the insuranc company’s “greedy” hands. It ended up in the pocket of either a hospital, labratory or doctor’s pocket. The insurance company did pay for $900 for services that were provided for this woman once the limits that she had established for herself had been met. I understand that the insureanc company seems to be responsible for her position, because they were trying to keep from going underwater in a litigious society that sues doctors when things don’t go right. The doctors then pass on the liability insurance premiums to the customers. The cost of healthcare is increasing for the drug companies because one percent of the population has bad outcomes and those patients sue for compensation, even though the FDA has “certified” the drug to be safe and effective. But somehow the insurance company is to blame. And supposedly the federal government is going to make things better. Right. And the Easter Bunny doesn’t steal the eggs he brings for Easter.

I like it when obama stated that we will see a 3,000% reduction in our premiums. Do the math…..I have and the gov’t will be refunding me 240K if I switch to the gov’t run plan, that obama, pelosi, reid and dodd are pushing…. obama you might need to get a refund from those expensive colleges that you attended, because you certainly don’t know how to do percentages…is that what you mean that muslims have enrich America and founded math? Joe Wilson was right to call you a liar.
