Here are National Geographic Aftermath: World without Oil video and photos. The documentary will premiere on Monday, March 8, 2010 at 9 pm ET/PT on NatGeo Channel . Details below after the jump.
The program poses a question: what would our world be like if we ran out of oil? Our contemporary world is so dependent on technology fueled by oil, and yet oil will not last forever. CGI animation and dramatic recreation will reveal a possible scenario of what will happen when the oil supply does run out. How will the world change and how will people adapt as food disappears, electrical power fails? Witness the devastation in major cities as winter sets in. What will be more important to our survival; the technology to develop new sources of energy, or a change to a more sustainable way of life?

This show by NGC is not very realistic. What about nuclear power? In ten years time the entire power grid in the USA could be run on nuclear power if government resources were put toward the task. Electric vehicles (from trains to trucks to cars) could easily take advantage of this implementation.

How ignorant, thoughtless, and completely dependent does a person have to be in order to find this credible? The people in the country have only “what they brought with them” to eat? Subsistence farms serve only to keep people alive while we wait for industry to save us? No wind power, solar power, hydro, etc..
Civilization instantly falls apart? The highest priority is getting cars back on the road?
The ONE researcher credited on this show really has to pull it together. Total garbage aimed directly at an audience waiting for the greatness of some faceless greater power to put the world right again.
Wow. That the show’s content is even regarded as a valid starting point for discussion of “ideas” is a sad commentary on the level of learned helplessness and ignorance of its unfortunately large audience. The commentary here is on what people will swallow.

there is one thing i would like to add. why didnt they mention hemp? you can create 10x the amount of fuel than corn. in fact if 6% of our crops were hemp we could power the usa. look it up.
