The memoir which chronicles her marriage to her husband, South Carolina Governor Mark Sanford, whom she is divorcing in the aftermath of the public revelation in June 2009 of his affair with Argentine mistress Maria Belen Shapur, which followed his four-day disappearance during which he initially claimed to be on the Appalachian trail. During the interview, she answered questions about her decision to divorce, and noted that she remains on good terms with Sanford saying, “We have both chosen to be as pleasant with one another as we can going forward. We don’t need the children to see us fighting.” She said she had no plans to go into politics: “No, I think I’ve done my time.”
