Here is the First Lady Michelle Obama Today Show video of her appearance on the show on Weds. Feb. 3, 2010. During her interview with NBC’s Matt Lauer she discussed a range of topics including her recently announced childhood obesity initiative.
Noting that government statistics reveal that 1 in 3 children in the U.S. are obese and that the generation is on track to become less healthy overall than the previous generation, she said the goal of the initiative is to “change the health status of an entire generation.” She also talked about home and family life and raising two daughters, Sasha and Malia in the White House as well as her role as First Lady and the scrutiny both she and President Barack Obama have undergone during the first year of his presidency.
The childhood obesity initiative had its official launch on Jan. 20, 2010 with the speech the First Lady delivered to the U.S. Conference of Mayors at the Capital Hilton. For more background see: Michelle Obama to launch initiative fighting child obesity
