Jimi Hendrix Valleys of Neptune Track-Listing

Here is the Jimi Hendrix Valleys of Neptune track-list. The highly anticipated album of 12 previously unreleased songs from the legendary guitarist will be out on March 9, 2010.

The new album was mixed by Eddie Kramer, the engineer for Hendrix during his lifetime, who served as co-producer along with Janie Hendrix and John McDermott. It contains 10 studio recordings made during Feb-May 1969, as his trio, the Jimi Hendrix Experience, worked on the sequel to Electric Ladyland, their landmark 1968 double album. The title track of the new compilation is among the most popular of the Jimi Hendrix recordings previously commercially unavailable. Additional tracks include the signature songs “Red House,” “Fire” and “Stone Free.”

Regarding the new album, Kramer told USA Today:

“It’s wonderfully fresh material,” says longtime Hendrix engineer Eddie Kramer, who originally recorded, and newly mixed, the Neptune tracks, employing high-tech digital and analog gear to cleanse the audio. “You hear the pure essence of the band, an in-your-face vibrancy. There were only four tracks and no overdubs, with Jimi singing as if he’s in a concert. He’s at the top of his game.”

In addition to Valleys of Neptune, Legacy Recordings will also release on March 9 deluxe editions of Are You Experienced, Axis, Electric Ladyland and First Rays of the New Rising Sun. Each reissued CD will include a DVD documentary. The newspaper also interviewed Adam Block, senior vice president of Legacy Recordings who discussed the wealth of unreleased material Jimi Hendrix left behind.

“There’s a strong vault, a lot of live stuff, that we have yet to tap into,” says Kramer, marveling at what the storied ax man might have achieved had he not died in 1970 at age 27.

“I’m sure he would have incorporated the past and hip-hop and dance and all the modern technology. He would have gone into symphonic jazz with a huge horn section. He’d be a huge force.”
