Here are The Book of Eli trailer and behind the scenes video and set photos. The Hughes Brothers’ highly anticipated movie stars Denzel Washington (picture above) and co-stars Gary Oldman, and will be released in theaters Jan. 15, 2010.

The thriller, set in the year 2043, chronicles the quest of Eli (Washington) to protect the sacred book, which he believes is necessary to save the post-apocalyptic civilization. He encounters opposition from many including a mercenary, Carnegie, (Oldman) and those who follow him. Rounding out the cast areJennifer Beals, Mila Kunis, Ray Stevens, Frances de la Tour, and Michael Gambon.

Denzel Washington, who also serves as one of the producers of the film, addressed a range of questions, including, the post-apocalyptic genre of which he said:

Well, you know, I guess it’s maybe it’s a classic format. You know, what was really interesting. My son is associate producer on the film and he really was the one who stayed on me about the story and what he really was attracted to was the spiritual aspect of it and he just felt that it was important. He convinced me to do another film called Training Day so I kind of listened to him and he really, really got involved with the writers and with the directors on this and follows the dailies and is going to be involved in the post-production process. I think the difference is – you know, I mean maybe it’s not different, but there’s the classic battle of good and evil in this. God and the Devil if you will, and I found that interesting.
