The Climb, a cover of the Miley Cyrus single from Hannah Montana: The Movie is the winner’s first single and has just been released. Joe McElderry is a drama student from South Shields. Upon winning the competition he said: ‘Thank you so much everyone. I can’t actually speak. I want to say thank you to my mentor Cheryl [Cole] and all the judges for their comments and to everyone who voted.”
