2009 American Music Awards - Show

Here is the Whitney Houston American Music Awards 2009 video from Nov 22, 2009. She performed “I Didn’t Know My Own Strength”, from her seventh studio album I Look to You. The inspirational song was written by Diane Warren and produced by David Foster. She delivered an emotionally powerful, standout performance of the song, accompanied by a string orchestra and choir in her first live performance on U.S. television in many years.

Additionally, the legendary pop diva received the International Artist Award. The award has only been given out seven times previously in the 37-year history of the AMAs and is reserved for artists who have received global success and iconic stature. As such, the previous recipients of the award have been Michael Jackson, Rod Stewart, Led Zeppelin, the Bee Gees, Aerosmith, Madonna and Beyonce.

AMA producer Larry Klein commenting on the award said:

“We’re honored to have Whitney Houston back on the AMA stage after ten years…She has won the most AMA’s of any female artist in history and is without a doubt an international superstar, so it’s only fitting we honor her with the International Artist Award this year at such an important time in her career.”
