Here is the Adam Lambert American Music Awards 2009 Video and photos of his Nov. 22 performance. The season 8 American Idol runner up performed the title track of his debut album, For Your Entertainment, set for release on Nov. 23, 2009.

His highly anticipated standout performance was the last of the evening, and found the singer characteristically bold and edgy. Click the picture above to see the full gallery of pictures. The performance was censored when broadcast on the West Coast. Rolling Stone interviewed Adam Lambert backstage and he discussed the controversy.

“It’s a shame because I think that there’s a double standard going on in the entertainment community right now,” Lambert tells RS backstage after the show at Los Angeles’ Nokia Theatre. “Female performers have been doing this for years — pushing the envelope about sexuality — and the minute a man does it, everybody freaks out. We’re in 2009; it’s time to take risks, be a little more brave, time to open people’s eyes and if it offends them, then maybe I’m not for them. My goal was not to piss people off, it was to promote freedom of expression and artistic freedom.”

In advance of the performance, he spoke with MTV News, saying.

“It’s gonna be sexy, I think,” he told MTV News about his performance on Sunday night. “The wardrobe is amazing. I’m working with 10 dancers that I’m so impressed by. I was looking for a certain sensuality — five guys, five girls and they’re all incredible.”

He also spoke highly of his new band, also performing with him that night.

I also auditioned a band a couple weeks ago that I’ve been working with,” he said. “I’m so impressed by [them] and it feels really good to be part of a team situation again. It’s great because I’m back in a team environment and it reminds me of my roots in musical theater.”
