Rihanna 20 / 20 Interview Video 11-6-09 [Full Program]

Here is the full Rihanna 20/20 video of her interview with Diane Sawyer on the ABC program on Nov. 6, 2009 in which she discussed the Chris Brown domestic violence incident which happened on Feb. 8 prior to the 2009 Grammy Awards.

She said of falling in love with R&B singer-songwriter Chris Brown, whom she described as her best friend, “The more in love we became, the more dangerous we became for each other, equally dangerous,” she said. “Because it was a bit of an obsession.”

She discussed the night of the attack and how it began, saying it began when he received a text message from another woman. “I couldn’t take that he kept lying to me and he couldn’t take that I wouldn’t drop it because obviously his back was against the wall — the truth was right here in the text message. So, it accelerated towards him being violent towards me and it was ugly.”

She goes on to say of the attack, which she described in detail: “When is it going to stop? When is it going to stop?… He had no soul in his eyes. Just blank. He was clearly blacked-out. There was no person when I looked at him.”

In revealing she returned to Brown after the attack she said saying: “It’s pretty natural for that to be the first reaction. The moment the physical wounds go away, you want the memories to go away….”Love doesn’t go away right away,” she says. “He didn’t accept that very well. Obviously he didn’t want us to be apart. But I had to make a decision for me.””

She also revealed that growing up she witnessed her father being physically abusive towards her mother.
