Ne-Yo Never Knew I Needed

Here is the official Ne-Yo Never Knew I Needed video and lyrics. The song is from The Princess and the Frog soundtrack (track-list and cover art below) of the Disney animated movie which will open in theaters on Dec. 11, 2009. The album will be released Nov. 23.

The movie soundtrack was composed and conducted by Randy Newman, with Grammy Award winning singer-songwriter Ne-Yo’s contribution to the pop single of the movie which has been released to radio since Oct. 14, 2009.

The highly anticipated movie is set in New Orleans and features the first ever African-American princess, Tiana (voice actress Anika Noni Rose), as the star of a Disney animated theatrical motion picture. It is also is the first from the company using hand-animation in six years, rather than computer-generated animation (CGI).

The Wall Street Journal notes that the movie also follows the traditional format of a Broadway musical and quotes producer Peter Del Vecho who considers this a selling point:

“There is a whole new generation now that hasn’t experienced a great musical, hasn’t experienced a big, epic fairy tale.”
