Here is the Shakira Saturday Night Live video from Oct. 17, 2009. The Colombian pop star performed She Wolf and Did It Again on the SNL show hosted by Gerard Butler.
Her performance is in support of her album, She Wolf, released in Latin American and Europe and set for release in Nov 2009 in the U.S. The highly anticipated album is the first from the Grammy winning singer-songwriter since the release of Oral Fixation in 2006 and its worldwide smash hit Hips Don’t Lie featuring Wyclef Jean.
She was recently profiled and interviewed by The Guardian and discussed a range of topics including songwriting.
She says she studied writing lyrics in English “when I could barely speak the language”, with the aid not merely of a dictionary, but the collected works of Bob Dylan, Leonard Cohen and Walt Whitman (needless to say, these are names that seldom come up in interviews with multi-platinum selling pop stars). “It was probably one of the most important challenges of my life,” she says. “I feel like I was thrown in a pool without learning to swim and I didn’t drown.”

She looks like an emaciated, lanky, 12 year old boy doing “The Robot” in a wig. Sorry, but it’s a sad day when you’re HIPS are gone…so they have to SEW fake, sparkly hips onto a leotard so you can “shake it”. She looks like every other stick figure woman in entertainment. A dime a dozen. Insecure, starving herself and begging everyone to love her. Sorry if I sound mean, but I was disgusted by her on SNL. I used to like her.
