Here are National Geographic Alaska State Troopers: Ice Patrol video and photos of the premiere of the new series which airs on NGC on Weds., Oct. 14, 2009 at 10 pm ET/PT.

The new series will chronicle the activities of the troopers in the remote Alaska frontier. In the premiere episode, Ice Patrol, the troopers are responsible for patrolling what is sometimes called the Alaskan version of spring break; the Arctic Man Ski and Sno-Go Classic, held annually. During the four-day event, approximately 10,000 people gather in the Hoodoo Mountains; this is equivalent in population to what would be the state’s fourth largest city.

An overview of the program can be seen here: National Geographic Alaska State Troopers

Patrolling the rowdy festival are just thirteen troopers as the 10,000 or so people engage in physically demanding winter sports. It is their responsibility to keep the peace, enforce laws and engage in dangerous search and rescue missions. Meanwhile, in Fairbanks, the state troopers and their K-9 partners are responsible for a variety of tasks including fighting crime, searching suspicious vehicles, undergoing nighttime training exercises.
