Here is the official Skillet Hero video and lyrics. It is in support of the lead single from the Grammy Award nominated rock band’s eighth studio album, Skillet. The new album released on August 25, 2009, produced by celebrated producer Howard Benson (Kelly Clarkson, My Chemical Romance, The All-American Rejects), debuted at No. 2 on the Billboard 200.
With the departure of drummer Lori Peters the band presently is comprised of frontman John Cooper, Korey Cooper, Ben Kasica, and Jen Ledger. The new album follows upon the success of the Grammy Award nominated album Comatose.
Regarding the new album, John Cooper was recently interviewed by New Release Tuesday. Of the lead single Hero, he said it “really sums up the album” He went on to say:
I wrote this song for a number of reasons. One, I love comic books [laughter], which is maybe not super cool to say, but I grew up on Batman and Spiderman. So I had a metaphorical idea of what a hero should be. At some point I thought it would be really cool to write a song about that, but the reason I suddenly felt that I had to write a song about being a hero is due to how crazy this world has become. It just keeps getting scarier and scarier!
