Here is the Yeah Yeah Yeahs Tonight Show with Conan O’Brien video along with photos. The indie rock-punk band performed their single Heads Will Roll on September 16, 2009 on the late night talk show. It is the second single of their third studio, It’s Blitz! (track-list below).
Comprised of lead singer Karen O, drummer Brian Chase, and guitarist Nick Zinner, the Grammy Award nominated Yeah Yeah Yeahs wrote all of the tracks on the album, which was
produced by Nick Launay (Arcade Fire, Talking Heads), and Dave Sitek of TV on the Radio.
Karen O is additionally in the news for her work on the soundtrack of of Spike Jonze’s Where the Wild Things Are, a screen adaptation of the children’s classic by Maurice Sendak. The soundtrack will be released on September 29, 2009 and the movie will be in theaters on October 16. She discussed her contribution to the film in a recent interview with Paste Magazine.
Spike came to me with the idea of the music having a similar mood to The Langley Schools Music Project, Innocence and Despair, which is a children’s choir singing melancholy pop songs by David Bowie and the Beach Boys, etc. I don’t know how close we got to that idea in the end, but the intention was to write simple melodies that were emotionally complex—something that both kids and adults would appreciate.
