Here are the Michael Jackson VMA tribute at the MTV VMA Awards 2009; video and photos of Madonna and Janet Jackson from September 13, 2009. The tribute features Madonna’s speech (full text below) in rememberance the King of Pop, followed by Janet Jackson dancing to Scream, in a spectacular choreographed routine featuring larger than life screen images of MJ. These were highlights of the moving and remarkable tribute which began the awards ceremony at Radio City Music Hall. Scream was originally a collaboration between the singer and her late brother.

In her remarks, Madonna noted the legendary entertainer, the King of Pop and the vulnerable and shy human being whom she said she had befriended in the early 1990s but drifted away from in subsequent years. She said: “When I was six, my mother died. I think he got the shorter end of the sick. I never had a mother but he never had a childhood.”
