Here are the the Jay-Z Alicia Keys MTV VMA Awards video and photos of the live September 13, 2009 performance of Empire State of Mind at the ceremony, with rapper Lil Mama appearing unannounced and uninvited at the end. The performance began in dramatic fashion with Grammy Award winning rapper seen arriving at Radio City Music Hall in New York City and the cameras following him as he made his on stage entrance where Grammy wining R&B singer-songwriter Alicia Keys led both piano and vocal support to the anthem. Regarding the unexpected appearance of Lil Mama MTV News reveals that she did not exit the stage even at Jay-Zs request, noting that he made a joke saying,
“You T-Paining right now,” while Keys finished her chorus. The line refers to T-Pain jumping onstage with Jay-Z at Summer Jam during his “D.O.A. (Death of Auto-Tune)” performance. While Pain said he was asked to get on with the Jiggaman, Jay said in interviews he had no idea the singer was coming out with him.
