See the full video, transcript of the President’s health care town hall meeting on August 14, 2009 in Belgrade, a suburb of Bozeman, Montana at a hangar at the Gallatin Field Airport. As he has done in prior public meetings, the President addressed questions in health care debate which has become increasingly contentious in recent days in town hall meetings across the country, in discussion on the proposed health insurance reform legislation.

Some of the controversy in recent days has focused on allegations that the health care reform bill would create “death panels” — perceived as bureaucrats empowered to make decisions as to which elderly or seriously ill patients would live or die. As the Washington Post notes, the basis of the allegation stems is the reaction to a provision in the bill authorizing Medicare reimbursement to patients who sought end-of-life counseling.
