Here are National Geographic Locked Up Abroad Barbados video and photos from the latest episode in the critically acclaimed series which is now in its summer season. The episode was broadcast on July 22, 2009 at 10 pm ET.

The new season episode National Geographic Locked Up Abroad Barbados chronicles the harrowing experience of Zara Whittaker, a woman who is from an impoverished family in Southeast London. She leaves her months-old baby behind and goes to Barbados to smuggle cocaine.

Zara Whittaker never imagined anything could go wrong. Her partner in crime had smuggled cocaine without incident no less than twelve times. Once in Barbados, she found out she was pregnant with her second child, but believed that she had spent too much of the drug dealers’ money to pull out. She was arrested at the airport, and subsequently given a five year prison sentence. While imprisoned in Barbados, she gave birth, but and after three heartbreaking months she had to give the baby up.

As with all of the series episodes, National Geographic Locked Up Abroad Barbados intersperses reenactments with interviews with the subject.
