The legendary former Beatle made a triumphant return to the new arena and home of the Mets which replaces the old Shea Stadium, in Flushing Meadows, Queens, New York where back in 1965 and 1966, The Beatles played historic concerts during the 1960s British Invasion. The August 15, 1965 Beatles concert lasting 35 minutes and attended by 55,000 was at the time, the highest grossing rock concert ever. The 1966 concert at Shea Stadium was a part of the last tour of the Fab Four.

The landmark sold out two-hour concert on July 17, 2009 reveals a wide ranging Paul McCartney Citi Field set list — with songs from the Beatles, and his later work with his own band, Wings, in addition to solo compositions and works from his latest project Firehouse and the 2008 album Electric Arguments. Billy Joel made a guest appearance, playing piano and joining McCartney on the Beatles classic I Saw Her Standing There. (In 2008 at the final concert held in Shea Stadium, McCartney had joined Billy Joel on stage.)
