On the day before the 40th anniversary of Apollo 11 and the historic moon landing, with NASA astronauts Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin, which took place on July 20, 1969, the NGC presents National Geographic: Naked Science: Living on the Moon.

Living on the moon has been a subject of imagination, speculation and science fiction. But how to make this a reality? A team of NASA scientists is at work to prove that living on the moon is something we can achieve in our lifetime.

National Geographic: Naked Science: Living on the Moon takes viewers inside Constellation, the NASA space program’s plan to establish a human outpost on the moon by the year 2020, just eleven years from now.

The program will reveal the plans which are already under way; these range from upgraded space suits to housing modules and moon vehicles. The program will also address challenges ahead, many of which are obvious, such as finding water, making oxygen, growing food and protecting residents from deadly radiation.
