Playing for Change

Here is the Playing for Change Conan O’Brien video. The Playing for Change Band performed Stand By Me on the Tonight Show with Conan O’Brien on July 9, 2009.

The band and the Stand By Me hit single, a cover of the Ben E. King classic, are from the award winning documentary by Mark Johnson: “Playing For Change: Peace Through Music.” Stand By Me was the first of the “songs around the world” to be released independently. It became a viral video sensation on YouTube, with more than 30 million views, and featured a myriad of musicians around the world performing the song. The celebrated documentary has been presented at numerous film festivals, including the TriBeCa Film Festival and The San Francisco Black International Film Festival, among others, with the movie soundtrack and DVD are recently released.
