The Wale Chillin video is in support of the lead single from the 24-year-old up-and-coming Washington, D.C. rapper Wale’s debut studio album ‘Attention: Deficit’ Both the track and the music video feature international pop star Lady GaGa known for her chart topping singles, Just Dance and Poker Face.

The forthcoming Wale debut studio album ‘Attention: Deficit’ is rumored to feature production from Glitch Mob, David Sitek and famed producer Mark Ronson (who has worked with Bob Dylan, Christina Aguilera, Amy Winehouse among others), who is Wale’s mentor.

The Wale Chilliin video featuring Lady GaGa was directed by veteran director Chris Robinson. The track, which was produced by The Cool & Dre, samples the 1969 Steam hit single ‘Na Na Hey Hey Kiss Him Goodbye.’

In an interview with MTV News, Wale talked about his collaboration with Lady GaGa, which he sees as representing the dissolution of traditional categories of music while noting that some might have assumed he would have used British-Sri Lankan rapper M.I.A.

Diddy, Kanye and Jay are always the first ones to do something, and I like to think of myself as the first person of the new class to kind of step out of the box,” Wale said. “It’s 2009 now. Jay-Z is doing sold-out arenas with Kelly Clarkson. It’s world music now. I want ‘Chillin’ ‘ to be a celebration of that. [...]

“If Jay-Z can work with Coldplay, then Wale should be able to work with Gaga.”
