After numerous leaks of unfinished versions of the Kanye West Paranoid Video which was directed by Nabil Elderkin, the ten-time Grammy Award winning rapper himself posted the finalized version of the video on his blog. The music video had its premiere at the Island Def Jam Spring Collection party at Stephen Weiss Studio in New York City on May 20 which led to the circulation of bootleg copies on the Internet.

Director Nabil Elderkin discussed the video:

“It’s fantasy meets paranoid, when you get into that frame of mind and get trapped into your thoughts,” Elderkin explained. “It starts out subtle, but then it just builds. So I wanted to get that into the video, to build that into her dream sequence and get her into that paranoid state of mind.”

The much discussed (via bootleg copies circulating on the Internet) video reveals the pop singer Rihanna making her first post-Chris Brown domestic violence indent return to the music scene as a video vixen.

The music video is shot entirely in black and white, and features the singer in perilous nighttime scenes reminiscent of classic 1940s film noir; the effect is intensified by the titles.

The Paranoid video is in support of the fourth single from Kanye West’s platinum-selling fourth studio album 808s & Heartbreak and was shot on location in Hawaii back to back with his ‘Amazing’ music video.

Paranoid lyrics and music were written by Kanye West; Mr. Hudson is featured on the original album track, which Kanye West produced along with Jeff Bhasker and Plain Pat. Rihanna appears on the remix of the track. The Kanye West Paranoid lyrics are here.
