Here is Bat for Lashes Letterman video. British-Pakistani singer Natasha Khan (aka Bat For Lashes) performed ‘Daniel’ live The Late Show with David Letterman on May 1, 2009 on CBS. See the video and photos here, and see also the official Daniel music video.

‘Daniel’ is the lead single from Bat for Lashes sophomore studio album, Two Suns, released in April 2009 and in stores and online now. The track was written by Natasha Khan and produced by David Kosten, who produced all of the album’s tracks. The album features appearances from Scott Walker and Yeasayer.

Similar to what Beyonce has done with her third studio album, I Am…Sasha Fierce, Natasha Khan introduces another persona on the album, Pearl, which the release describes as “a destructive, self-absorbed, blonde, femme fatale of a persona who acts as a direct foil to Khan’s more mystical, desert-born spiritual self.” The release goes on to describe the album as “a record of modern-day fables exploring dualities on a number of levels – two lovers, two planets, two sides of a personality.” (Source: Prefix Mag)

Natasha Khan, 29, from Brighton, England, recently gave an interview to New York Magazine and discussed a range of topics, including the ‘Pearl’ character.

Pearl isn’t really my alter ego. Pearl is just kind of a representation of New York for me. For me, it was more about my obsession with Diane Arbus and Cindy Sherman — kind of a bit of an art project that I did for myself, and a kind of private dressing-up thing I tried. If there was a film, she’d be like a strange, alien character that just kind of comes in and out, dreamlike, I suppose. She’s very much that kind of New York subterranean character, like in a book or a film
