Lauer asked her about her experience of singing before the initially skeptical audience and judges Simon Cowell, Amanda Holden and Piers Morgan; it is a notable aspect of the story that she displaced inestimable confidence in such a hostile atmosphere.

Regarding her sudden fame she said, “It’s had a huge impact on my life. It’s like a whirlwind, a roller coaster.”

As has so often been noted, Susan Boyle Britain’s Got Talent performance parallels that of Paul Potts, 38, the former mobile phone salesman and 2007 Britain’s Got Talent winner has had international success and a debut album, One Chance, topping the charts in 13 countries, and a sophomore album, Passione, set for release May 5, 2009. The Today Show invited the music superstar Paul Potts to join in on the interview live via satellite from Melbourne, Australia. Potts said the Susan Boyle ‘I Dreamed a Dream’ performance was ‘incredible’ and noted that the ‘unexpected can happen at any time,’ alluding to her meteoric rise to fame while commending her for handling her life well in the aftermath.

According to reports, Oprah Winfrey has expressed interest in having the singer appear on her program although nothing has been confirmed. There is a general consensus that a Susan Boyle makeover is not in the works, which Britain’s Got Talent judges Piers Morgan and Amanda Holden confirmed in an interview on CBS this morning.
