
National Geographic Locked Up Abroad Caracas is the latest episode in the trailblazing and often harrowing series which is now in Season 3. See photos, video here of the episode broadcast on April 8, 2009.
The second episode of the 14 part series National Geographic Locked Up Abroad follows the experience of David Evans, a musician in Atlanta, Ga desperate for cash simply to make ends meet. Thus when a clubgoer named Melvyn gives him the opportunity to make $5,000 for delivering cocaine from Venezuela to Europe, it is the proverbial offer he can’t refuse. As an added bonus, David was assured a tropical vacation.
David declines to tell his girlfriend about his plans; the two have arranged to meet in Amsterdam for a concert tour. Although Melvyn reassured David that smuggling would be safe, David nonetheless is ensnared when is suitcase is examined at the airport and the authorities find it stuffed with aerosol cans containing cocaine. He finds himself in prison in Venezuela, living a harrowing life among dangerous prisoners and sleeping on concrete floors as his girlfriend, Julie, is in Europe not knowing of his whereabouts. is abandoned in Europe.
As with all of the series episodes, Locked Up Abroad Caracas intersperses reenactment with interviews with the musician David Evans.
