Here is the powerhouse performance duo Keri Hilson, Lil Wayne, ‘Turnin’ Me On’ Jimmy Kimmel Live video, March 27, 2009. See video and photos here. The R&B singer-songwriter also performed her single ‘Energy.’

Keri Hilson teamed up with the Grammy Award winning rapper Lil Wayne on ‘Turning Me On’ which is the third single from her debut studio album, ‘In a Perfect World….’ released on March 24, 2009. Polow da Don produced the track which was written by Lil Wayne, Jamal Jones, Zak Wallace, and Ryan Xzavier. With proven crossover appeal, the single peaked at No. 15 on the Billboard Hot 100, at No 2 on the R&B 100 and No. 28 on the Pop 100.

This Keri Hilson Jimmy Kimmel Live performance is not her first; in summer 2008 she appeared on the program with Nas, performing ‘Hero,’ a single from his landmark album, ‘Untitled,’ on which she had a guest appearance. (See Video & Photos: Nas on Jimmy Kimmel Live “Hero” ft. Keri Hilson 7-16-08).

It was another guest appearance that first brought the longtime songwriter and backing vocalist to prominence in 2007; she appeared on her mentor, Timbaland’s studio album, Shock Value, notably on the high single ‘The Way I Are.’ She had several years, dating back to high school and college (at Emory University) as a songwriter, ultimately for Britney Spears, Ciara, Ludacris and other top music artists.

Keri Hilson In a Perfect World... album cover

‘In a Perfect World….’Keri Hilson’s highly anticipated debut album was released after several delays. The album has receive critical acclaim and is on track to debut in the top 10 on the Billboard 200. (See See also: Rap-Up.com: Review Roundup: Keri Hilson – ‘In a Perfect World…’). The album’s main producers are Timbaland and Plow da Don and in an interview, Keri Hilson discussed her work with them in producing the album.

“Polow absolutely leans towards urban-sounding records like ‘Turnin’ Me On,’ ” she said. “Timbaland leans towards the ‘Energy’-sounding records, the more world music. I’m always in the middle, and I mean that businesswise and creatively. Because when Polow brings me a more urban-sounding record, I bring it back to the middle and go a little pop with it. When Timbaland brings me a world track, I pull out something emotional and raw. I’m always the balance between those two. It works for us. They’re polar opposites and I’m in the middle.”

As for the album’s many delays she said she was a ‘perfectionist’ and as such ‘very grateful’ for the delays which gave her the chance to release an album to her liking.
