New Star Trek movie posters have been revealed for J.J. Abrams’ Star Trek. See the new movie posters and set photos and video here from the highly anticipated movie which will be released in theaters on May 8, 2009.

The poster shown above is the U.S. Star Trek final one-sheet theatrical poster. Several more posters been released. You can see all of them here:

The new movie is a prequel chronicling events of the lives of the iconic Star Trek characters when they were in Star Fleet Academy on Planet Earth, in San Francisco. James T. Kirk is portrayed by Chris Pine; Zachary Quinto portrays the young Spock. Rounding out the cast are Karl Urban as Dr. Leonard “Bones” McCoy, Simon Pegg as Montgomery “Scotty” Scott, Zoe Saldana as Uhura, John Cho as Hikaru Sulu, Anton Yelchin as Pavel Chekov. The movie’s villain, Nero, a Romulan commander, is portrayed by Eric Bana.

Leonard Nimoy is the only original cast member to appear in the movie. The legendary actor, director and photographer is making a highly anticipated cameo appearance as the legendary Mr. Spock. He was seen in the final seconds of the movie’s first theatrical trailer, released in November 2008, delivering the iconic Vulcan greeting, “Live long and prosper.” (See: Star Trek 2009 Theatrical Trailer.)

In related news, director J.J. Abrams’ Bad Robots Prods company, has extended its deal with Paramount through 2013.

Abrams and longtime producing partner Bryan Burk set the company at Paramount in July 2006.

Bad Robot’s first release was “Cloverfield,” which grossed $170 million worldwide. “Star Trek” is the company’s second film; Bad Robot begins production in June on Harrison Ford-Rachel McAdams starrer “Morning Glory,” to be directed by Roger Michell for release in 2010.
