Star Trek 2009
A new Star Trek TV spot was released for for J.J. Abrams’ Star Trek on March 23, 2009. See the TV spot and photos here. The highly anticipated movie which is a prequel of previous movies in the Star Trek series, will be released in theaters on May 8, 2009.

The new TV spot reveals previously unseen footage and, as with each prior glimpse of the forthcoming movie, it builds anticipation of the character development, the movie’s premise promises, showing us the young James T. Kirk, portrayed by Chris Pine, and the early life experiences which have influenced him. In the most recent theatrical trailer, we learned more about his father’s heroism as a starship captain, saving the lives of several hundred of his crew, including the infant Kirk.
Star Trek 2009

The movie follows the early days of the familiar Star Trek crew as they attend Star Fleet Academy, located on Planet Earth, in San Francisco. Zachary Quinto portrays the young Spock. Rounding out the cast are Karl Urban as Dr. Leonard “Bones” McCoy, Simon Pegg as Montgomery “Scotty” Scott, Zoe Saldana as Uhura, John Cho as Hikaru Sulu, Anton Yelchin as Pavel Chekov. The movie’s villain, Nero, a Romulan commander, is portrayed by Eric Bana.

Leonard Nimoy is the only original cast member to appear in the movie. The legendary actor, director and photographer is making a highly anticipated cameo appearance as the legendary Mr. Spock. He was seen in the final seconds of the movie’s first theatrical trailer, released in November 2008, delivering the iconic Vulcan greeting, “Live long and prosper.” (See: Star Trek 2009 Theatrical Trailer.)
